Smoking is bad for health and hence it is good to quit smoking immediately before facing the hazardous ill effects of smoking.   Guidelines that will help in your decision to stop smoking:

Firstly, firmly choose a date to stop smoking
Avoid places or any functions or people associated with smoking and go to places that prohibit smoking
You can consult your medical doctor for medications that can help you stop smoking
All cigarettes, lighters, etc. should be thrown away
Do regular exercising and be active by doing something productive that keeps your mind occupied
Take help from your family and friends to solicit their support
Remember the health benefits if you quit smoking
Believe in yourself and let the urge not come back – say a firm no if you feel tempted
