Everyone knows that cigarette smoking is a very dangerous
habit and injurious to health and its also known to cut smokers' lives by many
years by increasing their risk of cancer and heart disease. Cigarette smoke is
also dangerous to the people who inhale secondhand smoke. Many people start
smoking right from their teenage years and the toxic substance that they inhale
everyday over the years can have an ill-effect on their health.
Smoking causes maximum lung cancer deaths and the danger of
dying from lung cancer is more among men who smoke cigarettes. Smoking causes cancers of the bladder, oral
cavity, pharynx, esophagus, cervix, kidney, lung, pancreas, and stomach, and much more. Heart disease is
another illness that causes death among smokers; smokers are more likely to
develop coronary heart disease than nonsmokers, and can also lead to stroke. Cigarette smoking also increases the risk of
infertility, stillbirth, low birth weight, and sudden infant death syndrome.
In spite of the ill effects of smoking, people still continue
to smoke and do not take it seriously.
If you want to quit smoking, want your children to grown up in a
smoke-free environment and live healthy then you should have the willpower to
quit smoking. Try by first keeping your
house a smoke free zone and if you really want to smoke do it outside. Tell your friends not to smoke around your
child and you if you really want to stop smoking. Be strong – quit
smoking is not easy but it is possible if you have the willpower and
take the decision soon.
