The dangers of smoking

It is a well-known fact that cigarette smoking is a very dangerous to health and reduces the life span of a smoker by increasing their risk of cancer and heart disease. It is also dangerous to people who inhale second hand smoke. Research has shown that the major cause of lung cancer is cigarette smoke as cigarette contains nicotine, carbon monoxide and other harmful chemicals that cause cancer and other serious illnesses.  Cigarette smoking causes heart attack and high blood pressure as the smoke blocks airways and the blood vessels, damaging the heart.  Medical research also indicates that smokers are at a high risk of developing emphysema, a serious illness and they often develop bronchitis and can also suffer from deadly complications such as lung breakdown and heart failure.

Pregnant mothers are advised not to smoke as it can affect your health and that of the unborn child and cause complications reduced birth weight, spontaneous abortion and more.  There are many ill effects of cigarette smoking and it is important to understand that smoking kills.
