Nicotine is mainly known to affect mood, mental alertness and cause addiction. It is usually derived from tobacco products i.e. cigarettes. While smoking a person inhale smoke into their lungs which contains some amount of nicotine that is readily absorbed in the blood stream. The chemicals present in the nicotine alter the brain chemical compositions and cause dizzy sensation which affects your mood giving false satisfaction. That is the main reason behind nicotine addiction. It is said that nicotine is as addictive as cocaine and heroine.
Moreover a person who is new to smoking often notices an increase in heartbeats, causing production of more adrenaline. A regular use of nicotine can affect gastrointestinal system and results in decreased appetite. It is so toxic that a higher dose of nicotine can even cause death.
Furthermore certain nicotine products i.e. cigarette, cigars or pipes can harm your liver, kidney and lungs. Not only this, it is reported to cause lung and some other form of cancers in many cases.
Nicotine has its direct effects on the heart and blood vessels. It acts as a stimulant and increase blood pressure which makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood through the vessels. Nicotine is a major reason behind heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases.
In case of pregnant women and nursing mothers, nicotine may cause miscarriage, low weight baby. Some babies may have physical or mental disabilities in their later life.
Thus it is worth to say that “Nicotine Kills”
