When you smoke you are putting yourself at a great risk. Smoking not only affects your internal organs but also have adverse effect on external parts of the body. Smoking damages your body parts from top to bottom i.e.
• Smoking may increase the chances of mouth cancer. Tobacco smoke can cause tooth decay, bad breath and gum diseases. The teeth may become yellow in appearance.
• Smoking may cause frequent headaches
• Smoking cause narrowing of blood vessels due to lack of oxygen which can leads to strokes
• During smoking, smoke passes through your bronchi or respiratory tubes. The chemicals like hydrogen cyanide and others may cause inflammation of bronchi thereby resulting in chronic cough. Furthermore weak bronchi are more prone to bronchial infections.
• Smoking cause impairing of mucus secretion in your lungs resulting in chronic cough. According to researches, smokers are 10 times more prone to lung cancer and emphysema as compared to non-smokers
• Smoking has worst effect on heart. Cigarette smoke consist of chemicals like nicotine, carbon monoxide etc. Nicotine increases blood pressure and makes blood clot easily. Carbon monoxide may results in the development of cholesterol deposit on the artery walls. All these factors together may increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, loss of circulation in fingers, toes and impotence.
• Smoking badly affects digestive system of the body thereby enhancing the secretion of stomach acids causing heartburn and ulcers.
• Smoking increases the risk of esophagus, throat pancreatic cancers and bladder cancers
• High blood pressure due to smoking may damage kidneys
